Java Laboratory for differential curves

This laboratory is designed to experiment and visualize the elemental concepts of differential geometry of curves in the plane or the space.
It is possible to use it in:
http://www.mat.uned.es/GeoCM/2PP/lab_curvas/_apps/matematica3d_20.app/ma...
(please be patient, some times our server is slow)
With this laboratory it possible to visualize the Frenet frame, osculatrix circle, evolute, osculatrix plane, ... and to compute curvature, torsion, arc length, ... of differential curves and to see nice animations.

Inverted Polynomial Division and Taylor Polynomials

Polynomial Division can be used to find Taylor polynomials of rational functions easily and quickly. The polynomial division that does this trick is inverted in the sense that, instead of canceling out the leading terms at each step, one cancels out the trailing terms. Otherwise everything goes just like in the ordinary long division of polynomials.

Convergence of a Special Geometric Series

Picture 7.png

This video explains why the geometric series 1/2 + 1/4 + 1/8 + ... converges using an elementary argument. The video is meant to be preparatory materials for students to view before the discussion of geometric series takes place in a class room. The video finishes with an intriguing example.

Courses in Descriptive Statistics

EMILeA-stat-Logo.gif

A collection of public courses created on the basis of modules from the learning environment emilea-stat. The topics include, for instance, descriptive statistics (e.g., interactive visualizations of data, measures of location, dispersion and dependence, or elementary regression analysis) and related topics for teaching in secondary schools (like the stem-leaf plot and the Simpson paradox). All courses are in German.

Calculus Podcasts
