Case Studies in Learning Objects Repositories

Universities and other educational institutions are creating innovative repository-based systems for supporting the creation, use, re-use, and management of digital content. A learning object repository is a kind of digital library that enables educators to share, manage and reuse educational resources. Repositories rely on metadata standards. On the other hand, content based courses are no longer enough to describe the learning process, and it is necessary to include formal descriptions of learning processes and scenarios following learning standards.

Reuse and Remix Competition

The Open University in UK has launched a reuse and remix competition based on their free learning resources, delivered as Moodle courses. The aim is to inspire creativity, collaboration and cost reduction in course production, enabling wider access to education for all. The deadline for entering is 1st October 2007.
