New public profile pages on JEMJEM member pages have undergone a restyling which now allows to show the members' activities in the network's portal. The profile page is now public and it is up to the user to define which information should not appear to anonymous readers by un-checking the option below each field under "My Account". The profile pages now list the last 5 blog entries, publications and learning resources that have been published on JEM.
JEM Portal moved and updatedThe JEM Portal was moved to a new location on the morning of May 14th, 2009. At the same time, the site was updated with security patches. All systems are now up and running, please contact us through the contact form or directly via email in case of any peculiar or unexpected behavior on the portal.
Zemanta plugin and bloggingI have been using the Zemanta firefox plugin for a while now and now the Drupal module is installed on the JEM portal. Zemanta uses the semantic web to scout for images and links that might be useful when you are writing a blog entry. I think the idea is a good one and worth of explorations from the point of view of mathematics, say by integrating search engines and smart scientific text analyzers to suggest possible connections.
Geo-Traffic today on JEMDid you notice the live feed monitor, on the left column, under the "Online Now" header? We just added it yesterday to show you how traffic comes to our JEM pages, what pages are hit mostly, by which search phrases (some puzzling ones too). You can also see the map of the traffic, generated live.
view/proceeding for selecting publicationsAs the number of publications archived on the portal increases, I found myself wanting to select only publications based on event or location. So I now added a new view called view/proceeding which has a search filter working on the publication details and, for instance, it will select only the publications at the recent New and emerging technologies for mathematics education seminar.
