JEM repository integrated in globe-info.org

As of today, you can find JEM resources, registered in our repository, also via the federated search from the Ariadne Foundation for the European Knowledge Pool. Ariadne is a European Association open to the World, for Knowledge Sharing and Reuse that was initiated in 1996 by the European Commission's telematics for education and training program. The core of the ARIADNE infrastructure is a distributed network of learning repositories, JEM being one of them. So, give it a try it at Ariadne Finder.

New public profile pages on JEM

JEM member pages have undergone a restyling which now allows to show the members' activities in the network's portal. The profile page is now public and it is up to the user to define which information should not appear to anonymous readers by un-checking the option below each field under "My Account". The profile pages now list the last 5 blog entries, publications and learning resources that have been published on JEM.

JEM Portal moved and updated

The JEM Portal was moved to a new location on the morning of May 14th, 2009. At the same time, the site was updated with security patches.

All systems are now up and running, please contact us through the contact form or directly via email in case of any peculiar or unexpected behavior on the portal.

JEM server down on Saturday

JEM Server was down most of Saturday, September 27. The reason for this seems to be a distributed attack (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ddos#Distributed_attack) to our server bringing the server down. We are taking action to prevent this in the future.

Updates on the JEM learning repository

The learning repository on the JEM portal now supports some new features. You can now easily register your learning resources on the JEM portal, eg. if you have records elsewhere you may now use it to import the metadata into the JEM repository.

All the records are validated before import, to find out how we did this and a list of new features, visit our repository guide. A description of the LOM Import module along with the code is also available at http://www.jem-thematic.net/node/935.

Survey about issues with mathematical knowledge items

I'd like to invite you to participate in a little survey on mathematical knowledge items, possible issues with them, and how to solve issues. It will take around 10 minutes to answer the questions.

The results will be used in order to improve the mathematical argumentation ontology that is used in the semantic wiki SWiM and thus the assistance in tracking and solving issues there.

Geometric Series -- 15 May 2008

Open call for learning resources on Geometric Series.

Register any resource you have created or used and can recommend on Geometric Series in the JEM repository. Afterwards, reply with the learning resource link here before 15 May 2008.

JEM Aggregated Search of Learning Resources

After listening to several talks on repositories, I think JEM should offer an aggregated search of learning resources in mathematics. Single repositories can offer their resources for harvesting, e.g. with OAI. I would like to know which repositories are currently open to this possibility.

Should JEM install a connexions server?

Is there any interest on JEM installing a connexions server?
