Software and Services Review
Software and services that are published on the JEM portal can be rated in a 1-5 stars scale but also given a review. We expect only users of the software or the service to write a review since the evaluation should reflect actual experience if it has to be meaningful for other community readers.
A review will comprise an evaluation based on the following set of criteria. Each of them will require an overall score, 1-10 from "insufficient" to "excellent", and a short motivation of the score.
- Usability in learning environment aims to establish whether the software or service can be integrated in learning environments.
- Compliance with standards rates the adherence of the software or service to learning standards, representation standards or others promoting their adoption.
- Appropriate use of technology evaluates whether the technologies used are the ones most suited to the task.
- Clarity of usage instructions measures the documentation for the end users, its clarity and coverage.
- Effective/engaging use of technology considers whether the software implements an effective and/or engaging use of technology for learning and teaching mathematics.
- Availability of case studies should link if possible case studies or papers that document the relevance of the software or service as learning technology.
- Ease of navigation/user interface rates the user interface design, its consistency, intuitive functionalities, and pleasant look and feel.
- Accessibility evaluates the design in terms of differently able users.
- Technical requirements documentation rates the installation pre-requisites and instructions.
