]]>The purpose of the OAI (Open Archives Initiative) support is to enable remote browsing of the content in our Learning Repository; the OAI support provides a good way to gather hits for the website. Websites with OAI harvester support can now traverse our content according to the OAI v2 specification.
To enable this support we have built a PHP-based Drupal 5.x module to be used along with our learning repository. For a full list of features on the module and a download link, visit the our OAI guide. In case you are not already running a learning repository built according to our guidelines, please visit our repository guide to learn more. To see the OAI module in action, you may also visit the OAI feed manually.
We are also working on a OAI data harvester module for Drupal 5.x, the module is currently undergoing the development stage with some of the first verbs (Identify and GetMetadataFormats) verbs having been implemented. The module will be posted on this website and on the Drupal community once ready.

]]>Suodattimen asennusohjeet ovat varsin keskeneräisiä. Ongelmana oli tietää mihin kansioon suodattimen mukana tulevat tiedostot tulisi laittaa, suodatin tulee zip-pakettina ja PEAR paketit on haettava erikseen.
Oikea polku oli /site/modules/all minkä jälkeen moduuli on aktivoitava Drupalin hallintasivuilta. Kun tämä on tehty, ilmaantuu näkyviin uusi "input type" jonka polku on konfiguroitava oikeaksi. Erilliset suodattimeen liittyvät PEAR-kirjastot on purettava kansioonsa site/modules/all alle.

JEM portaalissa Faceted Search on tällä hetkellä käytössä hakukoneena LOM repositoryä varten (osoite http://www.jem-thematic.net/repository). JEM portaalissa Faceted Search on konfiguroitu niin että hakublokit näkyvät oikeassa sivupalkissa repository sivuilla.
Käyttääksesi Faceted Searchia klikkaa ensin mitä tahansa tagia joka näkyy oikeanpuoleisessa sivupalkissa. Tagin klikkaaminen tuo näkyviin jouklon hakutuloksia joita klikkaamalla pääsee askeleen syvemmälle rakenteeseen, uusi tagin klikkaus tarkentaa hakutulosta. Faceted Search tarjoaa myöskin oikeassa sivupalkissa avainsanahaun jota voi käyttää samalla tavalla kuin tageja.
Mikäli päätät käyttää Faceted Searchia Drupal-asennuksessasi, suosittelen käyttämään vanhempaa versiota 5.x-0.11 osoitteessa http://drupal.org/node/208521. ]]>The Faceted Search module provides a search API and a search interface for allowing users to navigate content in such a way that they can rapidly get acquainted with the scope and nature of the content, and never feel lost in the data. The Faceted Search provides a set of blocks with different functionalities and a view for showing the search results.
On the JEM portal the Faceted Search is currently used for providing a search for the learning resources (repository) at http://www.jem-thematic.net/repository. On the JEM site the Faceted Search is configured to be shown on the right sidebar on the repository pages.
To use the faceted search, first click on any of the tags displayed on the right sidebar and the Faceted Search will return a set of results. To refine the search, it will now provide a set of tags on the right sidebar which are included in the current search result. Clicking the tags again will refine the search further. Faceted Search also provides a keyword search which can be used in similar manner.
If you choose to use the Faceted Search in your installation, be advised to use the older version 5.x-0.11 of faceted search at http://drupal.org/node/208521. We experimented with the latest version but it was causing major problems so the older version is preferred.
