Mathematics Teacher at secondary level, then trainer and researcher in the IREM of Franche-Comté. Currently international consultant for mathematical curricula and student assessment matters.
Experiences in many connected areas took place along 45 years of professional life.
The main experiences have been in teaching (secondary level – Middle and High School), teacher training, Educational research, Curriculum development, Textbook design and writing, large scale Assessment (national and international: TIMSS – PISA), Overseas teacher and inspectorate training sessions (math education and evaluation and assessment matters), oversea consultancy and expertise, monitoring of Innovative teaching.
From 1986 to 2006, funder and head of the EVAPM Observatory developped in France for Large scale studies on students' mathematical achievement by the French Mathematical Teachers Association (APMEP) and the INRP (National Institute for Educational Research).
Project manager of the EMS European project : Reference levels in school mathematics at 16 in Europe.
