Invited Keynote Speakers

Prof. Don Allen, Director of Technology Assisted Instruction, Texas A&M University
Prof. Lisa Dawley is the Chair of the Department of Educational Technology at Boise State University (Idaho, USA) and a pioneer in the use of virtual realities, such as the Second Life, in education. She has set up the EDTECH Island in SL and taken an active leading role in enhancing online learning with virtual realities.
Prof. Friedhelm Schwarz and Dr. Sibylle Weck-Schwarz are pioneers in using assessment in mathematics education. They have authored high quality assessment materials for use with a variety of assessment systems. Both of them teach mathematics at the University of Toledo (Ohio, USA) and have used technology in their teaching for more than 10 years.

Call for Contributions

Contributions are invited for envisioning how new and emerging technologies can impact mathematics education in general and e-learning in mathematics in particular. To submit a paper, send email to Olga Caprotti.

Topics of Interest

New and emerging technologies that might have substantial impact on the way mathematics is taught and perceived by students will the focus of the meeting. In particular, but not exclusively, the following technologies are of interest: secondlife-postcard.jpg

  • Assessment systems
  • Virtual worlds and realities
  • Web 2.0 technologies
  • Mathematical blogging, PlanetMath and wikis

How to participate

If you wish to attend register/login and signup up on this page. The registration fee for the seminar is 0 EUR. If you wish to submit a 20 minute contributed talk, send your abstract by email to Olga Caprotti. Deadline: 10 August 2007
