Placement Testing at Texas A&M University
For the past few years the Mathematics Department has administered a placement test to incoming science, engineering, and mathematics majors. The goal is to determine a reliable predictor of success in engineering calculus. In this talk we shall explore the results of our online testing, and the possible needs in developing a more refined predictor. These include altering the test using item analysis and to include a companion survey on student motivation.
