Lecture of the week
I am thinking that it would be good to promote registration of new content to the JEM repository by suggesting a specific topic for which we call for learning objects. View it as an opportunity to select your best material and to share it and make it available to everyone. It is also an inspiration to try out some technologies on new topics.
The way this can work, inspired by the contests on Flickr, is the following:
- Someone suggests a topic, say "Geometric Series" by opening a new forum post and giving an upload deadline.
- Everyone can register a learning object related to the topic and enter it for Lecture of the week by posting a reply to the forum post with a link to the learning object in the repository.
- The issuer of the topic closes the entry and calls for votes. Each learning object can be voted on the repository.
- The winner (whatever this means) selects the next topic.
Of course, this could be used for you to call submissions on topics you are about to develop, a fun way to collect existing material.
Last rule: learning object can be in any language. Another rule I am not sure of: should we allow people to post material they have not authored but have used in class and can recommend?
