Organization of the conference "The future of mathematics education in Europe" in Lisboa, http://www.fmee2007.org/, on 16-18 December 2007. This event was promoted by the Academia Europaea in the framework of the Portuguese presidency of the European Union. The goal of the conference was to:
- outline an agenda for action for mathematics education trying to obtain a consensus, and to list critical points;
- present the agenda to stakeholders in the education and science policy arena for further development, and plan implementation.
More than 300 participants attended the event, mainly from Europe.
Mika Seppälä was among the invited speakers ([mms://vod.fccn.pt/FCUL/Segundo_dia/Manha/Segundo_acto/primeiro_orador.wmv his] and all the presentations are recorded and can be viewed from the programme on the conference web page). Ari Laptev was among the panelist for the closing session.
