Connexions Lenses for JEM
Prompted by Michael's remark, I have looked into the recent developments of connexions and found a new very interesting feature called lens which might just provide right hooks for JEM. Connexions lenses are available in three different forms. Organization such as JEM can create
- endorsement lenses containing content they have carefully reviewed and deem to be of high quality
- affiliation lenses identifying content created by members of that organization (but not necessarily reviewed).
So far I managed to create a public members' lens for JEM in which to collect course-ware produced by JEM authors -- anyone already on cnx?. If there is interest in establishing the other types of lenses listed above, comment in the forum and I shall go ahead and pursue this further.

The people at cnx have been doing a great job for a long time now.
Definitely, in a 'wisdom of crowds' world, the ability to put some kind of badge showing an institution endorsement of some 'user generated content' is great.
It's a pity, though, that such a good idea should be limited to cnx content. Maybe someone should create some kind of mashup for an easy way for anyone to mark any content as 'good', del.icio.us style. Suited with some kind of identity and reputation infrastructure, I think it would be a great tool to make UGC more useful.
