MathWiki workshop

Hello,

The MathWiki meeting in Edinburgh progresses well.

Olga Caprotti suggested that attendees of the meeting posted their slides at jem-thematic.net. I have put some machine checked, commented slides here:

http://logiweb.eu/grue/pages/MathWiki+2007+Logiweb+slides/undated/body/i...

Just click 'PDF' to get to the PDF version of the slides.

Maybe someone at jem-thematic.net could add to a diner conversation: What is the best format for delivering mathematics to an html browser? Suggestions are:

- PDF (but links in PDFs do not work well)
- HTML (but math in html looks horrible)
- MathML (but it takes forever to render a 300 page mathbook in MathML)

Any Suggestions?

Cheers, Klaus

Conference blogging is what

Conference blogging is what I suggested actually. I would have liked to read the summaries of talks, the reactions, the comments of the participants on their blogs. If you search for blogs on mkm2007 all you find are the posts of P. R. Rust, a chemist. This kind of blogging has not caught up with mathematicians. As for the best format for math on the web, I am biased in my preference that is easily guessed. On the other hand, I would like to point out that flash is heavily used also (and can be generated quite conveniently from PDF).
