Three years of JEM
In this talk, I summarize the goals and achievements of the JEM, Joining Educational Mathematics, project which has reached its conclusion after a three years lifetime.
How to make mathematical eContent travel well.
Electronic resources, that is eContent, produced for education ‘’travels well’’ when it can be reused across national borders and in different curricular frameworks. In this talk, we discuss what features of mathematical eContent contribute to making it travel well. In particular, we will talk about semantic markup such as Content MathML and OpenMath, and about metadata descriptions of the learning resources. We will look into ways of producing mathematical eContent and how it can be converted to ad-hoc formats, including those that are accessible.

How to use JEM to educate about accessible science
In this talk we describe the ways in which the JEM, Joining Educational Mathematics, thematic network can help in the efforts of educating about accessibility of science, and of mathematics in particular. The JEM network tries to create a community involving all the key players in the arena of mathematical education, from developers of technologies to users of online content.

Technology in Mathematics Education
The presentation will discuss proper use of technology to improve mathematics education in general and to make the delivery of education affordable. The introduction of calculators in high schools have had an adverse effect in mathematics education. What should be done now?
JEM: a network for mathematics educators
The presentation introduces the thematic network JEM and its activities. The network social community blends the expertise of developers, authors and of mathematics teachers. The presentation will discuss the web2.0 tools adopted in JEM and how they can be best employed to allow communication within this community.
Treasure Hunts and Educational Games: JEM and WebALT in Second Life
This talk reports about the recent activities that lead to a JEM exhibit and a WebALT office in the virtual world called Second Life. It will discuss the potential of SL for educational mathematics and show how it is immediately possible to blend traditional mathematics testing with a virtual treasure hunt.

The Challenges of Joining Educational Mathematics
This is an introduction to the JEM thematic networks aims and goals with emphasis on reporting what has happened in the first six months of activity. A brief tutorial will show how to collaborate on the network's portal and on the wikis that have been setup as a result of the network's deliverables. The immediate challenges that face the network will be briefly discussed in order to collect feedback from participants.
