We have today taken action to upgrade the Drupal core engine powering the JEM portal to the latest version due to security issues found on the previous Drupal 5.x series of releases.

The JEM community now is a registered dataprovider for the LOM records on the website. A complete list of dataproviders can be fetched from http://www.openarchives.org/Register/BrowseSites.

We now have the guide for building a learning repository on Drupal 5.x available in english, spanish and french; the guide instructs through the process of building a similar learning repository as on the JEM website.

We have moved the JEM website to a new server due to problems with the old webhost provider and the website should be running smoothly now.

What precisely did we do:

• Move the databases
• Move the site contents
• Redirect the domain www.jem-thematic.net to the new server by changing the A record
• Some apache reconfiguration (virtual hosts etc)

We hope this solves some of the peculiar behavior like page timeouts and 503 errors experienced on the old webhost.

The Faceted Search module provides a search API and a search interface for allowing users to navigate content in such a way that they can rapidly get acquainted with the scope and nature of the content, and never feel lost in the data. The Faceted Search provides a set of blocks with different functionalities and a view for showing the search results.

To enable MathML support on a Drupal-based website, please do the following steps:

• In the databases, make sure that all the tables and the database itself have the collation utf8_general_ci
• in some cases for example if the Drupal installation was made over cpanel, the collation tends to be latin1_swedish_ci
• The collation is important for the system to be able to view special mathematical characters correctly, for example ?, ? and ?

The JEM portal is being monitored at the Google Analytics. Google Analytics is a service provided by Google to give comprehensive overview of the performance and activity of the website.
